Aims & Objectives

To bring together businesses to establish a Leyton Enterprise Forum. The Forum will be completely business led but stakeholders will include local authority, police and others involved with Leyton Town Centre.

The Forum wishes to:

  • Discover and promote a shared vision for the town centre from a business perspective.
  • Generate ideas and take action for improvement of the area, such as a potential BID.
  • Act as a collective voice in discussions with the Council and other agencies such as the police, and provide a mechanism for feedback of business perspectives to the Waltham Forest Business Board.
  • Be a platform for tackling issues.
  • Provide opportunities to maximise benefits from business support initiatives available through the regional/central government bodies.
  • Provide a platform for businesses to network and provide support to each other.
  • Act as a key consultative body on Olympic proposals affecting the town centre.
  • Ensure environmental improvement and sustainability for the area in the long-term.

Meeting these Aims

The Leyton Enterprise Forum will meet these aims in accordance with the agreed governance structure for all business forums in the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

Membership will be sought by nomination via a promotional campaign and the Forum would therefore consist of 12 plus any number of Trader Associations that meet the criteria. Reps should cover the geographical area.

There will be an election by Forum members to elect a Chair and Deputy Chair who will serve a 1 year term but be capable of re-election. These appointments will be subject to the approval of the Waltham Forest Business Board, in accordance with a consistent governance structure being implemented for the WFBB Grouping. The Chair must be prepared to attend all Waltham Forest Business Board Meetings and act as a communication channel between the Leyton Forum and the Business Board.

Meetings of the Forum will take place on a quarterly basis scheduled in advance and specialist sub-groups will be created as and when necessary.

Finally, there would be an annual meeting open to all businesses within the Leyton area.
